GPS

The term GPS stands for Global Positioning System. This is an important invention in the field of telecommunication and has gained its need in almost all the existing fields. GPS plays a significant role in the field of automobiles. Automotive navigation system is the name given to the GPS technology in automobiles. GPS helps in locating a vehicle or a person any where in the world with the help of global navigation satellites. The cars, bikes and other heavy vehicles are equipped with such technology which makes their navigation easier. The GPS provides entire details about a destination when needed, providing all suitable routes to that destination with the time it would take to reach the destination. It is able to provide these details because each and every detail about a state roadway is embedded in the hardware of the GPS. This GPS system helps in typical situations such as accidents or vehicle break down. The vehicle can send signals to the help stations asking for immediate help and thus ensure safety while driving through the highways or unknown zone. Using the GPS technology we can find out the nearest Gas/Fuel stations or the service stations. GPS is much cheaper and an efficient tool, it is highly portable and a reliable technology.

Scale model

Every one has a car, bike or some vehicle these days but each and every individual has his or her dream vehicle. Vehicle that he wants to own, but couldn’t get due to some obstacles. Some are really lucky enough in getting their dream vehicle but some are not that lucky enough. Thus a scale model of their dream bike serves a better option for those people who find difficulties in getting there dream vehicle. The scale model is a direct replica of a vehicle in a reduced scale usually in 1:32 or 1:40 scale. The scale model provides complete details of the bike such as its color, shape of the lights, their seating etc. For people who are very passionate on automobiles collect varies scale models of the cars, bikes, trucks and thus develop a peculiar hobby. And people who want to fulfill their dream get their scale model first; they believe having a scale model of their dream vehicle is their first step towards the dream vehicle. Some people are passionate with the automotive companies and thus the buy the scale models of each and every vehicle designed by that company. These scale models are relatively cheap and is easily available in the global market.

Chassis

Any automobile needs the chassis to complete its construction and chassis is considered as the basic requirement to construct an automobile. A vehicle without the body is called the chassis. The components of chassis are frame, suspension, engine, wheels, radiator, storage battery, fuel tank, silencer etc. A good chassis must have the following characteristics; it should be strong and durable with easy handling capacity. It must provide safety to the riders and must be stable while driving on different terrains and braking ability should be good. It should provide a fast pickup and must not generate noise. Frame is the main part of the chassis and called as the backbone of the vehicle. The other components of chassis are mounted on the frame. The engine is usually mounted on the chassis either at the back or at the centre. The frame must withstand the engine and torque stress and braking torque. A kind of chassis called Backbone chassis consists of a strong tubular backbone which is usually rectangular in cross section that connects the front and rear suspension attachment areas. Thus chassis has to be constructed in such a way that the chances of vibration are less and the vehicle provides extreme safety and is economical to the consumers.

Alloys

Alloy is generally defined as the mixture of few elements to get a new mixture with increased rigidity and strength. Alloy has its importance in almost every existing fields and it has gained its position in the field of automobile wheels. Usually the automobiles wheels are made of an alloy of aluminum or magnesium which provides luster at the same time strengthens the wheel. In the beginning the wheels were generally made of spokes which had less strength and weighed more. The alloys are of lesser weight and thus enable the automobile to movie in a faster pace. These alloy wheels are available in various shapes and sizes and thus the consumer has full liberty in selecting the alloy that suits his vehicle better. Also alloy wheels provide us with high balance. However though alloy wheels have several advantage they are prone to corrosion so proper care should be taken to avoid corrosion, or else it might lead to leakage of air from the tires. Now days it’s been a trend that people prefer wheels which are of alloy kind rather than the traditional spokes. Though these alloys can’t be repaired easily they gain there importance through there look and performance.

A Ride on Your Bike

Nowadays youngsters give much importance to their bikes and consider them more than a medium for transportation. Biking is developing as a culture and more and more bikers wish to explore places in their bikes. One can very well experience the beauty of places only when he rides on his bikes. He can stop anywhere he wish to and can enjoy its beauty. Moreover these bikers wish to take photographs and it is easy if he rides on bike. The pleasure of riding on the hills can be felt only with bikes. Also the performance of a bike can be found when riding on the highways. There is wide range of tourers, some riders prefer riding in highways whereas others prefer to ride on hills, there are few riders who prefer to ride for days. Common people might think these riders as crazy but when you ask them the reply with pride ‘this is our passion’.

Cooling Systems

Every automobile is equipped with a cooling system. These cooling systems are of various kinds such as air cooling, water cooling, liquid cooling, and steam cooling. When there is a combustion taking place inside the engine, extreme heats gets generated. As a result of this heat the temperature of cylinder and other body parts of the vehicle get heated up and if this is not cooled by some means there is a high probability of these parts getting damaged. Thus cooling systems gain their importance here by bringing down the temperature of the engine and other parts of the vehicle. There is a threshold to which the cooling function can carry over. Excess of cooling with bring down the thermal efficiency of the engine. So an optimum cooling value has to be maintained such that engine operates in an efficient manner. If the cooling is done with the help of atmospheric air then it’s called as air cooling, but this type cooling leads to noise and can be used only for small engines. The water is used for cooling through circulation in the engine. This type of cooling is advantageous but involves maintenance. Cooling systems can also be done with the help of liquids like oil.

Oil filters

Engine very much needs oil for its long life and efficient functioning. This oil has to be filtered now and then to remove few unwanted materials such as dirt, carbon particles, metal filings etc. because presence of the these impurities might cause wear and tear of piston, cylinder and other components. Thus filters are needed to remove these impurities. The filters are usually made of felt paper or plastic impregnated paper. These filters are used to remove finer particulates. The filter is located in the main oil supply and is provided with bypass valve. The oil from the pump passes through the filter before it enters the engine parts. To remove the iron particles and there ores Magnetic filters are used. These filters are made up of permanent magnet or an electromagnet to capture ferromagnetic particles. Magnetic filtration requires less maintenance, it simply requires cleaning the particles from the surface of the magnetic filter. In the beginning years of automobile design engine oil filters were of replaceable element having a cartridge kind of construction, in which a permanent housing contains a replaceable filter element or cartridge. Thus the oil filters are very much required to keep the engine running there by increase in the life span of the vehicle.
